Crossbow Regulations Worldwide: A Country-by-Country Guide
Last checked: September 19, 2026.
Crossbow rules differ by country: some allow adult purchases without a licence; others require a permit or registration. Hunting and import rules are separate. This guide covers verified rules for BALLISTA destinations outside the United States and Canada.
For North America, see our USA state-by-state guide and Canada province-and-territory guide.
Product lists below state the permitted or prohibited use. A hunting exclusion is not a ban on ownership. Import licences, purchaser eligibility and local shooting rules still apply where specified.
BALLISTA crossbows and arrows
BAT models have a rated draw weight of 130 lb; BAT Reverse models, 150 lb; Hawkwing, 200 lb; MEGABAT, 330 lb; and MEGABAT Reverse, 360 lb. Rated limb draw weight is not the reduced effort needed to operate the cocking assist.
Non-magazine BAT and BAT Reverse use compatible STING 13- or 16-inch hunting arrows. Magazine versions use their dedicated 10.5-inch bolts. Hawkwing uses its own STING Helical arrows; MEGABAT and MEGABAT Reverse use the appropriate PIERCER arrows. A longer incompatible arrow is not a way to satisfy a legal minimum.
Explore BALLISTA crossbows. Refurbished products, bundles and dealer specials are not listed separately. Canadian factory fixed-stock magazine configurations are covered only in the Canada guide.

- Buenos Aires province operates separate hunting licences and annual rules for small game, big game and pest control; municipal closures also apply.

- Those specified crossbows may be sold only by gun shops or specialist sporting-goods shops to adults, not by toy shops or similar stores.
